Rated 5 out of 5 by My New Favorite I love this butter. The shea butter was my old favorite because it's such a great moisturizer, but I was never thrilled with the smell. I got some cocoa butter and shea butter and ran a test: shea on my right leg, cocoa on my left. While they both work equally well, the cocoa butter smells better. It's a slightly chocolaty smell, but not overwhelmingly so. Definitely my new go-to butter. July 10, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 JUMBO Cocoa Butter Body Butter I love this product! What I don't understand is why it isn't sold in the JUMBO size. This is the product I prefer when making purchases, but it's not offered in the JUMBO size. I know it's a popular product, so why not accommodate the customers? June 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Make Jumbo Size please! I have tried a lot of drug store lotions, body butters, and creams but this is by far the best for my skin. It absorbs in easily and isn't greasy at all. It's thick enough to feel instantly moisturized but not so much that it's sticks to clothes or anything. The scent is light and kind of nutty. The perfume I wear has some vanilla notes in it so it's a nice compliment with it. January 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for pregnancy I've used this product every morning after a shower during my entire pregnancy. I use the Vitamin E body butter at night and I have yet to see a stretch mark at 29 weeks! I am very meticulous with the application and I've gone through 4 tubs of the stuff already but its worth it. I always get them on sale which helps. The Body Shop products are so great and the scent is never overpowering. November 6, 2013

    Answer:
Do not use body products on your face. The face products differ from the body products in their ingredients-- think of them as having ingredients for more sensitive skin types. On the face, some products, like Cocoa Butter, may make you break out. Hope this helps.

    Answer:
Thanks for your question. While cocoa butter can be used on the face, we recommend that customers choose one of our facial moisturizers specially formulated for face instead of our body butters.

All of our facial moisturizers are specifically made for facial use, so we would suggest using one of those instead. We hope this answers your question!

    • Cocoa Butter

We source our Community Fair Trade cocoa beans from the Kuapa Kokoo Farmer’s Union in Ghana. Now the largest Fair Trade co-operative in the world, Kuapa Kokoo has been trading with The Body Shop since its formative years, growing from a few hundred members to representing 78,000 smallholder cocoa farmers! We receive high quality cocoa from the Farmer’s Union which helps us make luxurious cocoa butter for our products; in return, our trade helps provide a steady, fair wage for the members of Kuapa Kokoo, so that they can improve their living standards and invest for the future. • Shea Butter

Our Community Fair Trade shea butter is sourced from northern Ghana, where it has been used for centuries to protect skin from harsh Saharan winds. We work with The Tungteiya Women’s Shea Butter Association to produce the rich shea butter we use in our products. The Body Shop provides the 528 women of the Association with a fair wage, and also pays a premium for the women to invest in community projects. Anita Roddick placed our first order in 1994 after an earlier visit to Ghana where she discovered the natural moisturizing properties of shea butter and the amazing women who produced it. • Soya Oil

We source our Community Fair Trade organic soya oil from Gebana Brazil. Gebana produces soya oil from GM-free, organically grown soya beans cultivated in the hinterlands of the Iguazu River. Gebana comprises around 350 families, mostly smallholder farmers. We have been working with them since 2006, because Gebana differs from much of the soya farming industry, which is one of the major contributors to deforestation in Brazil, by promoting sustainable farming methods and organic produce. The Body Shop® difference: The original and world’s best body butter. While in Tahiti, The Body Shop founder, Dame Anita Roddick, noticed how cocoa butter made the native women’s skin as soft as silk. It was her continued world travels and further discoveries of local natural ingredients being used for skin and hair care that inspired her to open the first shop in Brighton, UK, in 1976. Sixteen years later, in 1992, we launched our famous Body Butter range, which is packed with Community Trade ingredients like cocoa butter.
