Rated 2 out of 5 by from Scent smells different Did the Body Shop change the scent of this product? I recently bought a new container and it smells very different and not as good. The texture has changed from a buttery texture to a more of a creamy one. Sadly I don't think I'll be purchasing this product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best of the Best In terms of quality and moisturizing power, The Body Shop's Body Butters are at the top of the class. Among them, the Shea Body Butter is at the top. The scent is sweet but not overpowering, and the texture of the butter is thick (thicker than most) but smooth. It melts easily and evenly into the skin. Hydration and protection last for many hours. I'll be using this product for years to come! Highest recommendation!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells Fantastic The scent is great and it's very smooth to the touch. Takes a bit to absorb but does not leave a greasy layer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read the Ingredients I'm surprised that in 2016 a business like The Body Shop, that emphasizes the natural ingredients in their products, still uses parabens in their moisturizers. It smells great, a little different than natural shea butter but I grew to love the smell. I have really dry skin and it kept me from feeling like a walking sheet of sandpaper. I'm just really irked that there are so many parabens and unnecessary preservatives in here. Seriously, read the label on this and any other moisturizer before buying from here. They're still in a lot of the products, including the foot creams.

    Answer:
NO, there are at least two types of parabens in here including methylparaben. It says so on the label on the bottom of the container, which they conveniently hid underneath a sticker.

    • Babassu

Community Trade Babassu oil is extracted from the nuts of the wild babassu palm tree, found on the fringes of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Our babassu oil supplier, The Cooperative of Agricultural Producers of Lago de Junco (COPPALJ) is based in the north-eastern state of Maranhão in Brazil. It comprises over 150 members from 12 communities. The babassu palm tree has become an important subsistence resource in Maranhão, where over 300,000 families harvest babassu oil and are often dependent upon this activity for their economic survival. COPPALJ provides a fair wage, and also helps to lobby on behalf of babassu-harvesting communities to help them protect the forest and their livelihood. Babassu Oil helps to soften skin, preventing moisture loss and dry skin.

    • Beeswax

Our Community Trade honey and beeswax suppliers use hives hand made from bark, hung high in the forests, to collect our Community Trade honey. To the bees these are penthouses hung high in the trees. The honey they make is some of the finest in the world which provides deep and penetrating moisture in makeup and skincare products, as the bees visit flowers unspoiled by pollution or pesticides.

Now one of the largest Trade co-operatives in the world, Kuapa Kokoo has grown from a few hundred small-scale farmers to over 50,000. The cocoa butter we receive from the Farmer's Union helps make up the luxurious, moisturizing, nourishing bath & body products we offer, and gives back to the Union by providing a steady income so that they can improve their living standards and invest for the future.
