How it works:

The Body Shop® difference: A lot of hard work goes into producing the melon seed oil we source from the Eudafano Women’s Cooperative, our Community Trade partner in Namibia. The non-edible melons grow wild among the women’s millet crop. The women harvest them and then crush the melons using a wooden pestle, and the small black seeds are extracted by hand. The seeds are dried in the sun for a week, then winnowed and packed in sacks to be taken to the factory in Ondangwa, where the moisturizing oil is extracted using Eudafano’s press.

Passion Fruit
Passion fruit is native to Southern Brazil. It's a small, round, dark purple fruit with as many as 250 seeds inside. That's where the magic lies; the seeds are pressed to produce incredibly moisturizing and fragrant oil.
Shea butter
Moisturizes and helps soften the skin. Also provides a rural community of women with regular work and income.

Shea butter is one of nature's great moisturizers. Ghanaian women have used it for centuries to protect their skin from the dry Saharan winds. So who better to buy ours from than the Tungteiya Shea Butter Association, Northern Ghana. An association of around 400 women from 10 villages, we ensure a fair price for their product. Since trading with The Body Shop the women have been able to dramatically change their lives with water pipes and wells saving hours of water collecting, better housing, medical care, food, and self esteem. Importantly, they are also able to give their children, particularly their daughters, the chance to go to school.
