The Body Shop® difference: Beeswax, well-known for its moisturizing properties, is a natural emulsifier and thickener and has been used in cosmetics for the past 2,000 years. It's used in our products to help form a protective layer on the skin, which reduces moisture loss. The beeswax we use in our products comes from the remove tropical forests or northwest Zambia, where it's farmed using traditional methods that preserve the forest and beeskeepers' way of life. The income provided by The Body Shop has enabled the communties to improve the standard of education for their children, as many more families can now afford to send their children to school.

Moisturizes and helps soften the skin. Also provides a rural community of women with regular work and income.

Organic beeswax

Moisturizes and helps to condition dry skin, especially on your lips and around the fingernail beds. Acts as a barrier that helps to seal in moisture. Helps to keep product texture consistent when used over time. Plays a part in protecting and preserving the forest as well as providing necessary income for the beekeepers, an increasing number of which are now women.

Shea butter is one of nature's great moisturizers. Ghanaian women have used it for centuries to protect their skin from the dry Saharan winds. So who better to buy ours from than the Tungteiya Shea Butter Association, Northern Ghana. An association of around 400 women from 10 villages, we ensure a fair price for their product. Since trading with The Body Shop the women have been able to dramatically change their lives with water pipes and wells saving hours of water collecting, better housing, medical care, food, and self esteem. Importantly, they are also able to give their children, particularly their daughters, the chance to go to school.
