Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful Smell I bought this online having smelled the olive body butter in stores once. At some point The Body Shop decided to change the fragrance from the rich, savory one it used to have to some putrid heavily green smell with a weird squirt of floral. It's gross unless you like smells like fragranced celery and grass stains. It's a huge shame because it feels and goes on so nice and smoothly. March 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing spa-like scent The olive butter is quickly becoming one of my favorite butters from TBS. My first love was the aloe because it was a simple scent, velvety texture and great moisture. The olive is just as good but the scent is so appealing--the best way I can describe it is very "spa" like with an earthy mineral scent. It's definitely a unisex scent that is not overpowering, just very clean and pleasant. I like to use it after I use the olive body gel in the shower. July 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVELY SMELL I always buy this body butter lotion. The scent is very good and doesn't make one smell very feminine for a male-user. My elbow area tends to get dry but since I started using this the elbow areas are softer. December 4, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Contains Methylparaben and Propylparaben I’ve used the olive oil body butter religiously for at least the last 5 years. I would go through about a tub a month. Yesterday I returned my remaining 6-tub supply of body butter and can no longer use the product. I did this because this week I finally read the ingredients and realized there are two types of parabens in the middle of the ingredients list. The location in the list is important because ingredients are listed from greatest to least in volume. Commercially used parabens are synthetically produced and have been found to potentially mimic estrogen. This is something anyone with hormone problems or breast cancer should try to avoid. Body Shop – please remove parabens from your products – especially from any topical application products. August 1, 2014

    Q&A for Olive Body Butter
My brothers complaining all the time about his dry skin. Hands and face. Using a beauty regime starts another argument. I gave him the olive shower get and he really liked it. Let him try my olive body butter. Didn't know what to tell him about using on his face.

    Answer:
Thank you for contacting The Body Shop. Your brother might be interested in Hemp Face Protector. It provides heavy-duty hydration, and is especially effective for skin that is exposed to cold weather. We also recommend Hemp Hand Protector for an effective treatment of dry, cracked hands.

    • Cocoa Butter

We source our Community Trade cocoa beans from the Kuapa Kokoo Farmer’s Union in Ghana. Now the largest Fair Trade co-operative in the world, Kuapa Kokoo has been trading with The Body Shop since its formative years, growing from a few hundred members to representing 78,000 smallholder cocoa farmers! We receive high quality cocoa from the Farmer’s Union which helps us make luxurious cocoa butter for our products; in return, our trade helps provide a steady, fair wage for the members of Kuapa Kokoo, so that they can improve their living standards and invest for the future. • Olive Oil

Our Community Trade organic olive oil is hand-picked and cold pressed in the Cilento National Park in southern Italy. The members of the Nuovo Cilento cooperative make oil from an indigenous variety of olives, which they grow on land handed down to them through the generations. The World Wildlife Fund first introduced us to the pioneering work of the cooperative, and we made them our sole supplier of Community Trade olive oil. Now they are one of the largest producers of olive oil in the area, boasting some 300 members cultivating 2,000 hectares of land. Learn More →

    • Shea Butter

Our Community Trade shea butter is sourced from northern Ghana, where it has been used for centuries to protect skin from harsh Saharan winds. We work with The Tungteiya Women’s Shea Butter Association to produce the rich shea butter we use in our products. The Body Shop provides the 528 women of the Association with a fair wage, and also pays a premium for the women to invest in community projects. Anita Roddick placed our first order in 1994 after an earlier visit to Ghana where she discovered the natural moisturizing properties of shea butter and the amazing women who produced it.
