Satsuma Mandarin is a variety of orange. It is a citrus and easily peeled variety known specifically as: Unshu Mikan. It also goes by other names: The Christmas Orange, Satsuma Orange, The Satsuma Mandarin and is of Chinese origin. In China, it is known as Wenzhou migan. Certain species are referred to as Tangerine in the United States.
In my opinion: The scent is specifically a blend of Mandarin and Clementine. (I researched this information and what was revealed was that TBS uses the essential oils from a blend of Satsuma Mandarin Oranges.) The scent is similar, in my opinion, to a Tangerine or a Clementine. It is not "orangey," rather, it is more of a blend of luscious citrus (Mandarin Orange, Tangerine and Clementine.) I have used this particular product religiously since last year, and each time I go out I receive compliments on my "perfume," which is from my wearing the Satsuma TBS Body Butter and having bathed in the Satsuma Shower Gel. I actually reviewed the shower gel today which was when your question was presented to me to answer. You will find it's easy to use the Satsuma shower gel as shampoo as well as body wash and I have used the body butter lightly on my hair as a topical leave-in conditioner on my ends. The scent lasts and lasts. I hope this helps! My hair looks great and my ends are smooth after using (strange but it works.)
