The Body Shop® difference: Our natural Hemp Body Mitts are sourced from our Community Trade partner, MCC in Bangladesh. The hemp plant thrives without the need for harmful pesticides and also helps to improve the condition of the soil. Baghda Enterprises, a group of rural women in a remote area of Bangladesh, an impoverished country where almost half the population lives on less than $1 a day, produces the mitt for MCC. Many of the 190 women involved in making the mitt are the only wage earners in their families, in an area with limited opportunities for work. The money the women earn from selling the mitts helps them feed, clothe and educate their families and have more control over their future. Many of the women have also attended classes on the importance of children’s rights to education, as well as health, hygiene and nutritional issues.
